PETA has made huge progress on animal welfare in China

Somsak Pola missed both the point and the facts. Elephant abuse in Thailand isn’t any more justifiable because China has animal-welfare issues. PETA is working in both countries. We have conducted numerous hard-hitting investigations into the cruel dog-leather, fur, circus, and zoo industries as well as many others. The shocking results of our investigation of Chinese angora rabbit farms brought the angora wool industry to a virtual standstill.

PETA works closely with activists throughout China and informs the public through our Chinese website and our hugely popular Chinese social media accounts. In fact, we’re the most influential charity on Weibo, China’s top social network. Our posts have prompted extensive news coverage that has even persuaded Chinese officials to stop randomly killing dogs on the streets.

PETA’s exposés and high-profile campaigns in China are changing hearts and minds and have brought about a sea change in views about animals. Of course, there is still much more work to be done, but PETA’s work is undoubtedly making China and all of Asia a kinder place for animals.
